Dashboard

Overview

The Dashboard provides a comprehensive overview of your application usage and screen time. It's designed to help you understand your habits and manage your time effectively.

Screen Time Summaries

Today's Screen Time

The "Today" card prominently displays your total screen time for the current day, comparing it against your set daily goal. The visual gauge helps you quickly assess your progress.

  • The green inner circle represents your actual focus time.
  • The blue outer circle represents your maximum allowed screen time goal for the day.

Historical Data Views

You can navigate through your screen time history using dedicated cards for daily, hourly, and weekly summaries:

  • Day View: Shows detailed charts for screen time per hour and by application category for a selected day. Use the "Back" and "Next" buttons to navigate to different days.
  • Hour View: Provides a breakdown of your active time within a specific hour, showing top apps and usage by category for that hour. Use the "Back" and "Next" buttons to navigate to different hours.
  • Weekly View: Displays charts for total screen hours per day over a selected week, and screen time by application category for that week. Use the "Back" and "Next" buttons to navigate to different weeks.

Activity Analysis

Top Apps

The "Top Apps" chart highlights the applications you use most frequently. This helps you identify which applications consume the most of your screen time.

Category Charts

Throughout the Dashboard, you'll find charts that break down your screen time by application category. These charts can be interactive:

  • Clicking on a category segment in the chart might show a more detailed view of the applications within that category.
  • A "Back" button will appear if you've drilled down into a category, allowing you to return to the parent category view.

Limits

Daily Maximum Screen Time

This setting allows you to define a total daily cap on your screen time. You have two main ways to configure this:

  • Overall Daily Limit: Use the main slider to set a general maximum screen time that applies to all days by default.
  • Per-Day Overrides: For more granular control, you can set specific maximum screen times for each day of the week (e.g., allow more time on weekends). When you adjust a slider for a specific day, that day's override will be used instead of the general daily limit.

Adjust the sliders to increase or decrease the allowed hours. The time is typically adjusted in 15-minute increments.

General Use Periods

"General Use Periods" define specific blocks of time during the week when screen use is generally permitted, subject to the category and application limits you set within these periods.

Managing Periods

  • Adding a Period: Click the "Add Allowed Period" button to create a new time slot.
  • Removing a Period: Click the "Remove" button next to a period to delete it.
  • Setting Times: For each period, specify the "start" and "end" times using the time input fields.
  • Setting Days: Select the days of the week for which this period applies by checking the corresponding boxes.

Managing Category & Application Allowances

Within each General Use Period, you can control how much time is allowed for different categories of applications (e.g., "Social Media", "Games", "Work").

  • Expanding Categories: Click on a category name or the arrow next to it to see its subcategories (specific applications).
  • Allowing/Disallowing Categories: Use the toggle button next to a category name to permit or block all applications within that entire category.
  • Setting Time Limits: Use the slider next to a category name to set a total time limit for that category during the allowed period. Slide to the far right for "Unlimited" time.
  • Individual App Control: If a category is expanded and allowed, you can individually toggle allowance for each application within it.
  • Reset Subcategories: Click "Reset Subcategories" to revert any custom limits you've set for individual applications within a category.

Restricted Periods

"Restricted Periods" define specific blocks of time during the week when screen use is more heavily controlled or disallowed. These are useful for times like homework, family dinners, or bedtime.

Managing Periods

  • Adding a Period: Click the "Add Restricted Period" button.
  • Removing a Period: Click the "Remove" button next to a period.
  • Setting Times: Specify the "start" and "end" times.
  • Setting Days: Select the days of the week for which this restriction applies.

Managing Allowances During Restricted Periods

The controls for managing category and application allowances within "Restricted Periods" are identical to those in "General Use Periods". However, the limits set here apply specifically during these restricted times. For example, you might disallow "Games" and "Social Media" entirely during a "Homework" restricted period, while still allowing "Educational" apps.

Admin Lock (Limits)

The Admin Lock feature (represented by a lock icon) prevents accidental or unauthorized changes to your limit configurations.

  • Locked: When locked, all controls on the Limits page (sliders, buttons, checkboxes) are disabled. You cannot make any changes to your defined limits or periods.
  • Unlocked: When unlocked, all controls are enabled, and you can modify your limits and periods as needed.

Click the icon to toggle between locked and unlocked states. This feature is especially useful if you are setting up the application for someone else (e.g., a child) and want to prevent them from easily changing the established rules.

Settings

General Settings

Application Blocking

Enable the "Block and close application" option if you want the system to actively enforce time limits. When this is checked:

  • If you exceed the allocated time for an application or category, you will receive warnings.
  • Continued use beyond the warnings will result in the application being blocked and closed.

If unchecked, you might only receive warnings, but the application itself will not be forcibly closed.

Allow Notifications

Check "Allow Notifications" to enable general notifications from the application. These can include:

  • Warnings before a time limit is about to be reached.
  • Other informational messages.

Allow Alerts

Enabling "Allow Alerts" permits the application to show more intrusive alerts, especially when a category or application is blocked due to exceeding its time limit.

  • These alerts may overlay your screen to get your attention.
  • Repeatedly triggering alerts for the same category can lead to an enforced delay before you can continue using that category.

Allow Delays

If "Allow Delays" is enabled, the system can impose a waiting period before an application or category is fully blocked after its time limit has been exceeded. This gives a buffer before complete restriction.

Timing Configuration

Check Frequency

This setting determines how often the system actively monitors your application usage. More frequent checks provide more real-time enforcement but may use slightly more system resources. Use the slider to choose a frequency (e.g., "Every 1 minute", "Every 5 minutes").

Block Delay After Limit Exceeded

This slider configures the duration of the delay that is imposed if you repeatedly trigger alerts for the same category after its time limit is up. The delay will increase by this set amount with each repeated alert.

  • Setting it to "Immediately" means there's no grace period; blocking is more instantaneous once triggered.
  • Other values set an incremental delay in minutes.

Warn Before Limit Reached

This setting allows you to receive a warning notification a certain number of minutes before a specific time limit is about to be reached. This gives you a heads-up to wrap up your activity. Use the slider to select how many minutes in advance you'd like to be warned.

Admin Lock (Settings)

Similar to the Limits page, the Admin Lock on the Settings page prevents unauthorized modifications to your application settings.

  • Locked: All controls on the Settings page (checkboxes, sliders) are disabled.
  • Unlocked: All controls are enabled, allowing you to change the settings.

Click the icon to toggle the lock state. This is useful for maintaining a consistent configuration.
